Product Photography for E-commerce in Morocco: What Most Brands Miss

Your product is great. Your photos might be costing you sales. Here's what we've learned shooting for Morocco's fastest-growing online brands.

Every week, we get a call from a Moroccan e-commerce brand with the same problem: great product, decent website, solid marketing — and a conversion rate that's stuck in the mud.

Nine times out of ten, the issue is their product photography.

It's not that the photos are terrible. It's that they're forgettable. And in e-commerce, forgettable is fatal. Your product photo has to do the job of a physical store experience — let someone feel the quality, understand the size, imagine themselves using it — all through a screen.

Here's what we've learned shooting for brands across Morocco, from artisanal goods in Fez to beauty products in Casablanca.

White backgrounds are necessary but not sufficient

Yes, you need clean white-background product shots. They're required for marketplaces and they give your website a professional baseline. But if that's all you have, you're leaving money on the table. Lifestyle shots — your product in context, being used by a real person, in a real setting — convert significantly better because they help people imagine ownership.

Consistency beats creativity

Your entire product catalog needs to look like it belongs together. Same lighting direction, same shadow style, same crop ratios. When a customer browses your shop and every product looks like it was shot on a different day (because it was), it undermines trust. We shoot full catalogues in single sessions to guarantee visual consistency.

Details sell

Show the stitching on the leather. Show the texture of the fabric. Show the clasp, the label, the weight of it in someone's hand. Moroccan artisanal products have incredible craftsmanship, but if your photos don't capture that detail, online buyers have no way of knowing. Close-up detail shots can be the difference between someone clicking 'add to cart' and bouncing.

Mobile-first is not optional

Over 70% of e-commerce traffic in Morocco comes from mobile devices. If your product photos don't look good at 375 pixels wide, they don't look good. We compose and review every product shot at mobile dimensions before signing off.

The bottom line: in e-commerce, your photos are your product. If they're not exceptional, neither is your conversion rate.
